Mattison Park is one of the hottest new destinations in Asbury Park for drinks, exotic Martinis and of course great people. Let me say that Asbury Park is not yet cooking on all cylinders 7 days a week so you have to catch Mattison Park on a busy night. That is unless you want a very cool, low key place to have a drink. On off nights, Mattison Park is sexy but very quiet. So, what is this bar like? Mattison Park reminds me on an old estate building converted into something hip, sheik and compelling. The bar is setup as two floors, the second floor has a balcony that look down to the first. The seating is comfortable, clean and inviting. I have to get out to Mattison Park on a busy night to see what its like. Service is still a work in progress. I visited the bar on a Tuesday night and sat down on the second floor with a group of friends. The waiter service at 10:00 was non-existent so I had to go downstairs and make two trips to carry drinks up for six people. I don't think the management understands that regardless of how small the crowds are for now, during the week, they should be offered table service on both floors.
